1. Why does Orlando Hoshuko not use English as an official language? Who can be enrolled? Orlando Hoshuko Inc. is a supplementary educational school whose prime goal is to teach Japanese language for Japanese citizens abroad, and we are funded by monthly tuitions, financial support from Ministry of Education and Science via logistical assistance from Consulate General Office of Japan in Miami, donations from Japanese-affiliated companies in Florida and some fundraising activities among the Japanese community. We do not receive any funding from local governments or local taxpayers. We have conditions for entrance to our school, which is to have at least one household member with perfect knowledge of the Japanese language, both written and oral at the proficient level of “native” citizen of Japan. That is because we communicate with our students and parents only in Japanese. Enrollment is subject to successful result of interviews with school administration in addition to demonstration of perfect levels of written and oral Japanese. As a proof of our openness to local residents, please be reported of a fact that we have considerable numbers of children with non-Japanese citizenship, because they have complied with the above-mentioned conditions and met our admission criteria.
2. I wish to learn Japanese as a foreign language. Do you have a course open for me? Though we appreciate your interest in learning Japanese language, Orlando Hoshuko Inc. is not a Japanese language school. Therefore, we do not offer courses for the Japanese language. We are not in a position to recommend or endorse any specific educational institutions which offer Japanese language courses in the Central Florida area. We are a private non-profit educational institution, and we do not receive any funding from local governments or local taxpayers. Our language of instruction is 100% Japanese. There is a Consulate General of Japan in Miami, which has a cultural section. Here is their web page and contact information. https://www.miami.us.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/00_JapaneseinFlorida.html
